What are Weapon-Free Funds?

In order to retire with dignity we all need to be investing our savings. Historically, investors have been primarily focused on returns and profits. This is obviously important and relevant to consider in order to grow our savings. However, in this day and age many investors are concerned about more than just profits.

The questions to ask are:

  • How is your money being invested?

  • Where is it being loaned to?

To learn how your money is invested check out Weapon Free Funds, a database that analyzes funds and investments. Using their site, you can check out how your retirement funds and other investments are being allocated. They provide a grade (A-F) and break down how much the fund is allocated towards things like nuclear weapons, military contractors, etc.

Search for investment funds using name, ticker symbol, or asset manager. When you find a fund you're looking for, click on it to see the full results. In addition, Weapon Free Funds provide alternative funds and sustainable investments to consider. Remember, this information is educational, not prescriptive.

Here are your action steps for today. (I cheated, there are two!)

  1. Log into your retirement account(s) to see what funds it is invested in.

  2. Go to Weapon-Free Funds to input your fund and find out how it is rated.

Let me know how it goes!
